Why do you want to communicate with PC using non-standard baud-rates.

It may be possible to do it (not sure), BUT you will have to work some maths to get a divisor value that genarates the required baud rate.

Instead you can operate 89C52 on 19200 bps or 9600 bps, or some other standard baud rates like 2400 and 1200 bps using 11.0592 MHz crystal. (Other crystal values like 24 or 12 MHz will lead to near standard baud rates and will have some percentage of error).

Since I have NOT used non-standard baud rates, I will NOT recommend you to use that as it will make trouble shooting more difficult.

If I were you I would proceed as follows:

1. Write appropriate programs for microcontroller and PC (programming serial ports at standard baud rates), keeping cable length well below the upper limit.

2. First try communication b/w two microcontrollers on the serial port (connecting TX to RX of the other chip).

3. Once this is done, try talking b/w a PC and a microcontroller.

4. Once this is also done, NOW worry about the fan-out thing.
