There is a certain "snobbery" among programmers (OK, I admit it) that BASIC is not a "real" language for "proper" work - after all, the 'B' does stand for "Begginer's" ;-)

Similarly many assembler programmers dismiss 'C' users as wanton wastrels who can't write tight code nor get to grips with the nitty-gritty of the "real-world" microcontroller architecture.
