1)What type of dimmer you are designing? It seems a very complex type.
2) What is data and where it is coming from?


I have used ATMEL's uC in hundreds of project, including digital dimmer (based on tiny AT89C1051) , but I never felt that resources of the uC are not enough. The only thing which seems small is FLASH.

Please be little bit specific so that someone might help you
