I personally am not a fan of RTOSs on the 8052. In embedded programming I like to have as much control as possible and the RTOS does stuff for you that isn't always easy to predict and, as Erik mentioned, hard to debug.

My suggestion would be that if you can get by without an RTOS, go without.
