The term "embedded programming" encompasses an extremely wide spectrum - from little 4-bitters up to major 32-bit systems, and beyond. Most RTOS are targetted at least at 16-bit processors; if your product requires a 32-bit processor, then it probably also requires an RTOS; however, as several have already noted, the benefits of an RTOS in the scale of system typically implemented on an 8-bit processor are much more limited. |
