#23171 - RE: NoICE (or other debbuggers) questions |
What I don't understand here is a function of the NoICE debugger: "scope". This "scope" is sitting in the symbol list window, and I can't figure out what exactly is it doing... :-) I am about to find a good and cheap development system with hw debug possibility. (my target project is very hw oriented, sw simulation is not possible in most cases) Normally I am working with other controllers, so I like to avoid an expensive toolset just for this single project. The SDCC compiler seems great, all I need is a hw debugger. Now I am trying the Raisonance RIDE. The system is rather nice, they have a free evaluation version, and a limited version for an affordable price. But there is a confusing thing about the hw target. - What "Dynamically modifiable code" exactly means? It means that the CODE space is writable with movx? I mean the "ROM" is a RAM chip too, OE = RD and PSEN, WR connected, or this is something different? - I don't understand, how download is working, if I have a proprietary card and not their XEVA board. There is a Optorom checkbox in the debug options, it seems to be useful for different hws, but I don't understand how is it working, how the hw has to be done, what is the necessary "loader" part of the monitor etc. |
