I am quite new to the world of microcontrollers. I was going through the FAQ section. The following describes the programming of a 8951 (I suppose) -

"However, many newer derivative chips include internal EEPROM or Flash memory. These derivatives often include a process of downloading your compiled 8052 program directly into the microcontroller via a serial port."

Where can i procure such a programmer? would it make sense to build one (assuming i get hold of such a design)?? How exactly does this EEPROM programming work? Please help.
