Well, I live in Mexico so I'm kind of used to it. But point taken, Cancun is closer to the equator and it's definitely a scorcher in the afternoon.

If, in the one of last threads I check, a message has been entered after I started; then when I press refresh to se what came up after my first runthrough some flags are missing.

This, of course, has to do with the generally insufficient manner in which the "new" flag works. I need to fix it but I'm still not exactly sure how I'm going to do it. I think I'm going to have to use HTML cookies extensively, so hopefully most people have them enabled.

FYI, what I do when reading messages is, from the main msg list with the "new" flags, I click on each thread. From within a thread I click a msg--then I click "Back" and click on the next msg. When I've read them all, I click back to the main message list which will still retain the original flags. I only reload the main forum page when I've read all the new msgs in each thread.

The above approach works pretty well and, actually, the flags work reliably if you read msgs in that manner. Still, I hope to improve the flag system so that you don't have to read msgs in any specific way for the flags to work right.
