"I'll Aasume the following -
(1) The relay is being operated within its rated voltage and current" It the contacts are melting, then obviously it isn't! Be sure to distinguish the carrying (steady-state) ratings from the switching ratings. The load must remain within the ratings at all times - including any surges at startup, etc. eg, an incandescent lamp load can have a huge inrush current! "(2) The relay is connected to an inductive load." The data sheet will specify different ratings for inductive and non-inductive loads. Be sure to use the right one! |
