I beleive it is possible to access the IAP routines from external RAM/Flash and reprogram the Boot Vector back to the default - if that is what happened.

Please contact me if you are still having problems. I can check a few things to see if there is a possibility the device can be recovered without resorting to attaching external RAM/Flash or removing the device.
