Be sure that you have the permission of the Copyright Owner (eg, Craig?) before downloading their site!

I don't have any problem with people making personal copies for themselves.

What I do have a problem with is when people unleash bulk downloaders/browsers on the site. Often people don't use them correctly or don't realize what they're doing. More than once I've seen the logs show some automated robot download every single message in the forum (28,000 pages) at the rate of two or three hits per second. That can go on for 2-4 hours. It taxes the system and runs up my bandwidth REAL quick, and I doubt the downloader is really going to read all 28,000 messages.

In any case, 8052.com now has a hit throttle. If it detects more than a certain number of hits from a single user in a certain amount of time, it refuses to serve more pages until the user slows down. More than reasonable for a human reader but keeps my bandwidth safe from robotic downloaders.

As for Sriharsha's idea, I do plan on offering an optional "flat" mode where an entire thread will be displayed at once rather than one msg at a time. That ought to be what Sriharsha is looking for.
