I'd always seen interupts and timers mentioned together so I thought while an interupt could be controlled by an external event, I thought you were required to use it with a timer which would eventually overflow, triggering the interupt anyway.
Thanks for seperating that issue out, it gives me a new insight on everything I have seen - I now have a place to start at least! :-)
