#3051 - RE: 16-bit 8052s |
Hello All,
Franc, I've been reading up on the XA, and it has a full 16-bit multiplexed data bus, and upto a 24-bit address bus. It more or less is a true 16-bit device. Nice and cheap too!!!.. and fast (upto 10MIPS @ 30MHz). Martin, I agree that the 8052 is more than capable of playing simple sequences/patterns and producing a DMX512 data stream, but my project is a little (well actually, a lot) more involved than that and will require a lot of processing power. Steve, I'm not sure that invitation was aimed at me.. if it is, I would really like to go, I've heard of PLASA before, but have never had a chance to attend. Also, I know you can get multi-port RAMs, you know I'm not stupid mate! ;-).. but with out a large re-think on how things will be done, I can't see how I'll be able to avoid using several K of the stuff (££££££££ :-( ). Cheers anyway! I don't think I'm at the stage yet where it's worth while mentioning anything to a commercial company yet, not until I've got a fully-working system I can play with, so I know where I'm at! I'd be really interested to know the details of your contact though thank-you. Matt. |
