Sure Steve, tants are expensive, but OSCONs are even more so! Nowadays there are plenty of 'low impedance' and 'ultra-low impedance' aluminium caps around. I find Nichicon's PL series a very reasonably priced alternative for decoupling. OSCONs come into their own when the ultimate in low ESR is needen, for instance in a SMPS.
