"documentation is not understanding"

Although probably not quite what he had in mind when he said it, that is certainly true: I have seen plenty of documentation which demonstrated all too clearly that the author had not understood what he was writing about!

I have also seen plenty of documentation where the author may well have understood the subject perfectly well himself, but totally failed to convey any understanding whatsoever in his writing!
