#34012 - RE: Oh No - NOT MS-Word!!! |
There have been a lot of comments, its obviously something which people feel strongly about and its something which effects us all who are either working professionally as engineers or simply designing projects at home for a hobby or even both.
The way I look at it is 'my little programmer friend'may think of himself as a bit of a linux hacker who doesnt really like to acknowledge the existance of mere mortals who don't understand the detailed workings of complex operating systems,or he may feel that as you say he isnt being paid enough or he has some other grievance which prevents him from co-operating with his co-workers,however the fact remains that he is paid to produce a usable product in a timely manner and to provide support for the product which he produces. He doesnt do that for what ever reason and if it had been up to me I would have kicked him out the door.In fact I wasnt trying to point out his failing as such I was just trying to illustrate why I think that even minimal documentation is a good thing, even if its just a few rough notes to remind yourself how you did something when you come to look at it in six months time.So there are really two issues which have got mixed up but they do have relevance to 8052.com Jez |
