The controller I wanted to use (TUSB3210) requires some sort of "boot signature" to be attached to code. Manufacturer (TI) provides a special utility for this purpose. The utility wraps the code adding a header to the compiled file. The problem is that the file must be in bin format. Nevertheless, my compiler generates exclusively HEX files and I can't find any info about BIN format.
