#35711 - RE: Curse of mixed 12v and 5v rails :(
micor and 4094 boards are 3 meters apart placed.

I want to use a pair of two transistors on each input as buffer in order to isolate 4094 from micro

Transistors as input buffers will give you next to no noise immunity.
Instead of transistors, use a schmitt trigger CMOS gate as input buffer and a buffer/driver chip such as the 240 as output buffer, this will not work in an industrial environment (too much electrical noise) only in electrically quiet surroundings.
In an industrial envoronment use 485 drivers and receivers, I am not NOT suggesting 485 transmission, but using the chips as single end to balanced converters and the reverse. With 485 drivers, you CAN use unshielded twisted pairs in heavy noise areas (but just to be sure, use shielded).
