Maybe I'm confused as to what you mean, but how do you know when the 3.5 character delay begins? I guess you can parse the message as each character comes in, but like you've said, if some characters got garbbled, then you'd loose your place permanently. Don't you? If you always know where the 3.5 character delay begins, then what's the point of the 3.5 character delay?
