The only advantage of being intimately familiar with hypoterminal is that you just know in advance that it's going to be a major pain in the back side to setup and get working!! :-(

One big Gotcha! is that hypoterminal will let you go into the options dialogue, make changes, click 'OK' but it will then ignore those changes until you click 'disconnect' and then 'connect' - even though the new settings will be shown in the status line!! (this applies to Win 95, 98, and NT; I think Win 2k and XP might finally have sorted this idiocy?)

If you search this forum for "hyperterminal" you will find that many people prefer to ditch it and use the old term.exe program from good ol' Windows 3.1! For simple tests like this, on low-speed links, I think it's a good choice!
