Well, since it was possible for you to erase the bootloader, it should also be possible to program it back.
I'll think i'll check if I could simply read a new chip, and make a copy. The PLCC adapetr is in my office, so i can't do it now.

You could check with Philips if the bootloader is available as a hex file.
