VHDL is a pain in th backside to WRITE. While the syntax etc is not overly difficult, but the creators of the language, for some reason, insist that you define everything 117 times. I am sure there is a reason, but I believe that languages (programming and chip configuration) should be made for the ease of the user, not the ease of the creator.
