#39118 - Same old question again Responding to: ???'s previous message |
This is just a continuation of your previous thread, so why have you started a new one?
Please don't do that! The first question which really needs to be answered here is why? eg, 1. Are you just trying to use up stuff from your "junk box"? 2. Are you just wanting to do some experiments with linear power supplies? 3. is this for a particular project? 4. is this for a product intended for sale? In the case of 1 & 2, your approach is OK; for 3, it is dubious; for 4, I'd definitely say "No." Do you understand the purpose of the reservoir (or "smoothing") capacitor in a linear power supply? Do you understand the basics of what a capacitor does - Capaticance, Charge, and their relationships to Current & Voltage with Time? These are fundamental to understanding what's going on here. You should read the full datasheets of those regulator ICs, and visit the manufacturers' websites - they will undoubtedly have Application Notes to help you. You also need a good basic electronics book - such as The Art of Electronics by Paul Horowitz & Winfield Hill. |
