The problem is the LM1086-5V runs nice and cool when the input voltage levels are between 6.5-10VDC. However, the LM1086 get very hot as the input voltage increase to 15VDC. This at room ambient temperature approx. 23C. I need to figure how to keep it cool and because it is a surfacemountable part the only way to keep it cool is to increase the Copper Area on the board. How much area do i need? |
