#39898 - keyboard IC/ encoder?? |
I've globally searched the existing topics, but i couldn't find something interesting.
if this topic already excist, i appoligise. i'm working on a project, and i'm trying to make a texwriter. the microcontroller i use is the 80C54. i've also a textwriter IC (uPD6450) and clock IC (PCF8583). now i want to attach an pc keyboard to my microcontroller. but there are many different pc keyboards. almost every country has a keyboard with a different keyboard lay-out. some examples of these keyboard lay-outs are: -- QWERTY (used in the US and the netherlands) -- AZERTY (used in belgium and france) -- QWERTZU (used in germany) i once heard there is an IC which converts almost every sort of keyboard to serial data. this IC seems to recognise the keyboard lay-out and convert the pressed keys to serial data. when reading the serial data the output should be correct. i hope someone ever heard of this IC and knows where i can find more information and ordering info about it. thanks in advance, Hans van den Elsen |
