Hi all,

I have a hard time interfacing a hd44780 16x2 display to a PC serial port(when I get that working I'll use an 8051).

I just can't get it working. The "pc side" is no problem; I have full control over the com port. The problem lies in initialization(the display won't lit up or show any sign). Is there somekind of "official" documentation over the instruction codes? I've got several examples but they differ. I would really like to see a document just documenting the instruction codes detailed.

The data sheet for the display says nothing about instruction codes and is overall very poor. I've mailed the vendor about docs concerning instruction codes but got no reply..

Anyone have any link or suggestions?
