I mean that fire wire is high band width.....you will definately need to find a firewire controller of the type that has a local RAM buffer into which packets are moved during transfers. A non-buffered controller I would think would experience under-flow and over-flow problems if you tried to feed the controller directly from an 8052 under software control.
