Too big regarding circuit board space and not nearly efficient enough. This power supply I am trying to make has to provide some pretty good current. Not sure I can specify just how much at the moment but it is more than just a 'couple' of milliamperes.

Also note the design has to be such that the generated voltage is variable and not fixed. The switcher design lends itself to pumping all the way to 50 or 60 volts should that be needed.

So thanks but no thanks... I am sure the circuit configuration I have is Just Fine. It runs super well with an pulse generator connected to the MOSFET gate. I just need to work out the control algorithm to regulate the voltage to the desired level.
