I suspect this has more to do with the effects of transistor saturation than any capacitive coupling. The BC857 you use is a good general purpose transistor, but not exactly a 'speed monster' when it comes to switching.
Have you looked at the various signals, like base drive vs. collector-emitter voltage, with a 'scope?
