#4438 - RE: Car Tires Pressure Sensing System
Jeffery,

If you forget your configuration of putting things inside the tire, you can proceed as follows:

-------------------------------------
FOR DYNAMIC PRESSURE MONITORING:
-------------------------------------

1- fabricate a small sealed metallic box with three holes in it and strong enough to withstand the maximum tire pressure.

2- remove the rubber tube in the tire nozzle and connect the box to it at one of three holes using a metal tube which is used for brake oil circuit. the connection should be removeable in case you need to change the tire. (like the air filling hose connects to the nozzle by screwing onto it) but wrap teflon tape around it for good sealing.

3- attach the box to the rim by welding.

4- install a new air nozzle to the box at one of the two remaining hols for filling the air.

5- install a pressure trnasducer at the last remaining third hole and use some proper electronics to measure the pressure.

6- for power you can attach a light weight metallic ring with two conducting strips on it (insulated from the base ring). connect the two stripes to your circuit. attach two stationary carbon brushes to the stripes externally sliding on the stripes. connect the brushes to your battery.

7- for telemetry you can employ any suitable method.

-------------------------------------
FOR STATIC PRESSURE MONITORING:
-------------------------------------

Only to check the tire for a flat before starting the car.

We all know when we have a flat, that corner of the car sags down.

I think instead of looking at pressure we can install some fixed probe that goes down with the tire hub and when it touches the surface it closes a switch.

You can calibrate it for the different pressures...

Good Luck.
