" The following should answer your query : 8031 - the "0" indicates no on board code memory. 8051 - the "5" indicates it is mask programmed in factory. 89c51 - the "9" indicates it has a Flash memory for code. 87c51 - the "7" indicates it is OTP ( one time programmable ) or EPROM that needs UV erase. The above is based from info in the Bible from Philips IC20 data handbook. Now you know what you can do with your chip. Raghu |
