#46053 - AT89S\' Open Source ISP utility available
As promised, I have updated my 8052.com user page (http://www.8052.com/users/dhenry) to include an "Open Source" Atmel AT89(L)S51, '52, '53, and '8252 ISP programming utility. I have read elsewhere here that some of you who were interested may have moved on to another utility that uses a parallel port interface. So, just a reminder, the software I am giving you implements an ISP means using the PC's serial port to bit-bang SPI, as opposed to using the PC's parallel port. This is so the target system can use the same cable for normal application-specific PC/target UART comms and for the special ISP function without requiring additional bootstrapper, hardware, connectors, cables, etc. This should also mean that the program will run on any Win32 platform, since additional drivers, DLLs, etc. are not required.

If you decide to check it out, note that I have provided HTML and compressed HTML files to document the program itself as well as document the source code and provide a means to browse it. The CHM (compressed HTML, or Windows HTML Help) format is probably the best format from a browsing and navigating standpoint, since the the program that runs it has tree view, search, index, and bookmarking features, to name a few.

If you find code or documentation errors, please forward a description of them to me and I will try to correct them in a timely manner and upload them back onto 8052.com.

Have fun.
