Yes, since both my client and I prefer and had been designing with other Philips 8051's, we were quite reticent to switch to Atmel, but in 1997, the 'RD2 was not available, having not even been announced until a full two years after we were using the 'S8252. We were done with that project and on to other things by September of '99. The RD2's PCA sure would have been nice to put to work for decoding our RFID bitstream :-)
