#46483 - RE: Cheap I/O Expansion??
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi James,

Another I/O expansion option for you may be the SPI bus. Using four signals to send and receive data on a synchronous, serial bus, I've controlled D/A's, A/D's as well as discrete inputs and outputs.

Protocol is very simple. Some micro's have dedicated hardware to implement it, while those that don't can be programmed to implement it without a great deal of difficulty.
