Hi Thomas,
Keep in mind that your AVR programmer likely won't program any 8051-family parts. A lot of the 8051s capable of ISP do so through their UARTs, while the AVRs are programmed through an SPI port and thus require a separate header and possible design considerations to separate ISP from normal functioning.
