The Ceibo EB-51 variants are a happy medium, they do not use bondouts (you can change the chip to another derivative) and still perform 98.17% of what an In Circuit Emulator can do. 'Real' ICEs use bondout chips and require you to buy a new pod for every derivative you want to emulate.
