i myself apoosed the floppy drive control but big differance between two. i have seen old ZX spectrum recording data on the audio tape. its very cheap here in india. all i have to do to record temprature data of my system for 3-4 hrs. the device i'm making is for an NGO working on charity basis in rural area so they cant afford CD writer and 1 cd daily. tape can be use atleast 10 times as the transfer this data to their PC and re use again the tape. if big flash @ cheap is available , sure i'll go for it.

mikkel advised FSK that also is an good idea. leeme try it. what forum suggest a PLL?.
