You can get hardware breakpoints and data register watch points on EVERY Cygnal microcontroller right in your target hardware if you provide a simple JTAG port connection. No trace.......but I have never in almost 30 years of programming actually been able to gain a handle on any problems whenever a trace capability was brought to bear on a problem. A logic analyzer with good trigger capability almost always solved the problems,,,,yes even with encapsulated microcontrollers. (If you want to know we can discuss it over a beer sometime).
