Though it does sound exciting, the stuff that you are really pointing out is AI ( Artificial Intelligence ).

I have had some interactions with a scientist in this field - but believe man is way too far from achieving anything near the real AI. As of now it is still logic based deductions and the supposedly "intelligence" impression comes from the huge Expert data base mixed with the smartness of the programmer.

Just a small sample - the way your brain recalls instances , images, and sounds. Till date there is no conclusive evidence on how the brain manages these - it defenitley is nothing like what you do in a RAM -sequential search / match. And can you guess what is supposed to be the most evolved fucntion that a brain does ? Language !! Make a man learn to talk and understand.
