#48353 - RE: bursty ale Responding to: ???'s previous message |
i'm working on a DS80C320 microprocessor and the ale seems to be quite bursty. the sysclk is 11.059M. we've tried power supply filtering with .22u and 220uF cap's. but that didn't help much. any ideas?
Yes, I have, Rajashree. Bursty ALE is many times caused by too high capacitive load on port lines. In datasheet of philips 80C51 you can see the following sentence: "Capacitive loading on ports 0 and 2 may cause spurious noise to be superimposed on VOLs of ALE and ports 1 and 3. The noise is due to external bus capacitance discharging into the port 0 and port 2 pins when these pins make 1-to-0 transitions during bus operations. ..." Disconnect all bus lines and have a look at ALE signal. Still bursty? Bye, Kai |
