ISP FOR CYGNAL DEVICES ---------------------- Sorry for the delayed reply, as I have taken time to send a combined reply to all. I thank all for the prompt suggesstions Dear Rob, Thanks (a) I'll straight away start buying cygnal devices and make my own target boards and use the same serial adaptor bought with by F005-Ddevelopment Kit. I am planning to work on F320 devices with USB support. (b) I had gone through the C2 I/F specs, at present I am not keen know about specs of JTAG/C2 because I don't want to get bogged down with that. What I need a programming Interface, so that I can concentrate on my tgt appln with USB interface. Since Serial adaptor EC-2 support C2 interface no problem for me. (c) I had gone through AN005 of Cygnal, but it requires to dedicate a Fxxx device to program the other new devices through JTAG interface only." So, what's the problem? I think I'll make my F005-DK to do the functionality of programming my future target boards (only through JTAG) (d) I have a basic doubt. Whether I can use the same IDE of F005-DK for all devices (such as F320/F321)? (e) I'll become a member in Cygnal users forum Dear Cristial Ceausescu ( I don't know How to pronounce) "(a) You can use the serial adapter for the entire family of Cygnal processors with JITAG or 2 wire debug interface. (b) You can preload a bootloader and then use it to program the flash via different pins ( including uart, spi, smbus etc ). First you must use the serial adapter then you can use your own programming firmware. (c) You can build a JITAG programmer with different controllers and even with the PC only using the parallel interface - (d) Use a DOS window in win98 or directly run it from Start- Run" Do you have any such readymade scheme of JTAG programmer using PC paraller interface? Dear Michael Karas, Thanks, (a) Your first option is good. I would also like to write a program to use EC-2 adaptor to program any cygnal device. But I do not get time for that and moreover I may loose focus on my target application. ( if time permits I'll attempt). Where can I download the DLL and documentation?. (b) There should not be problem to accomodate a Jtag connector inside the target board. Your option of SMD type connector is good. All my circuits including PLD/CPLD I always make a daughther boards (also to Cygnal devices) and insert daughter boards onto target boards. - AP Kannan |
