to test crystel circuitury measure the frequency at XTAL1 pin it should be equal to crystel frequency aslo check the freq at ALE here you should get 1/6 of the crystel frequency. if not.


1. check two capasitors siting with crystel (27 or 30pf).

2. case of the crystel should be grounded also if it has matelic case, no need for ceramic.

3. i'm using RC reset method also and its working fine. this doesn't mean what others sugest is rubbish.

4. check EA pin it should be kept at '1' for inter code.
