yes thats they way checking goes.


a. freq measurement at XTAL1 pin.
b. freq measurement at ALE, its 1/6 of value staed in a.
c. a and b are feasible if you have an digital multimeter with freq measurement capabilty , or a CRO.

d. write some code that

1.sets the values of the ports, (better '0aah')
2.wait for some pin which is set to '1' to go down.
3.flip all the bits. its good idea to connect an LED as erik stated.
4. start the setup, check the port values/LEDs, use a wire with some pull down resistor and connect the pin your code is waiting to go low.
5. again check the port values/LEDs.
