Just a further thought ... If you try one of the LS-120 flopp drive that now exist (120MB Capacity) These use a IDE interface and so in theory should be as easy to interface as a IDE HDD. If you want to know about HDD interfacing the let me know.

This route may also be quicker, and certainly much cheaper for the interface. and hence offset the higher cost of the drive.
