Does it mean that if I use parity I can have only 7 data bits...
no, you can use the 9 bit mode unique to the '51. This mode is NOT intended for parity, but that does not make it impossible to use for that purpose. However, the ASCII standard calls for 8 data bits, one which may be used as parity. Erik |
