I tried ramping up with the suggested fixed resolution, but it didn't have the visual effect that I needed. No matter what "curve" I tried, it looked a bit tired. Now I'm using the changing reload values on ramp up, then switching to the method that Mr. Karas suggested once I reach full speed.

The PCA sounds like a great idea, I'm definitely going to check out the datasheet on the device. I've never heard of it before. The chips I use currently are older than me. :)
