The big one can handle different types of sources:

1.
A duo-plasmatron ion source for the direct extraction of negative ions. This source is being used for the production of ions from gaseous materials, i.e. hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen.

2.
A duo-plasmatron ion source followed by a charge exchange canal for the production of negative helium ions.

3.
A Middleton-type high-current sputter source for the production of negative ions from solid materials.

4.
A plasma sputter source is under development. (Kingston Scientific. Inc., Kingston, TN, USA)
