Will the charging current flowing through the 47uF cause any problem to the cap (due to increased charging current pulses)?
If so all vacuum tube radios would have had the problem.
Is there any special consideration in selecting the cap?voltage: Vac max in * root2 +20%. The capacitance should be minimum somehing like 1uF per 10mA of 5V you use (why waste time calculating, this will be enough)
How about EMI filtering?
encapsulate the switcher and you will be fine.
