4-20 mA circuits can NOT be referenced to ground. Any unit can be anywhere in the chain example:
Voltage source - readout - sensor - alarm - return (gnd?). The people working with 4-20 strongly adhere to the anything anywhere for wiring simplification. Obviously in the above example the sensor is of the loop powered type. Erik |
