I dont know in which sense you say so but I differ a bit with you ,if you design some commercial product for home use only say a hand held device ,then according to you , you take all the precautions against lightnings etc etc..
nope, maybe I were not clear. All designs shall be 'industrial' in the respect that all that can happen to them must be considered. One blaring exception in some respects will be toys and such. While it is likely that a 3 year old will hit his toy with a hammer, no one will expect the toy to withstand that. however the toy should still be 'industrial design' in the respect that it should work and not reset once a week because of some design flaw.
